Speaking about the lawsuit, he said that when there is a story based on a real-life incident, there are usually many who try to claim it. He said that although there may be many scripts written on India's Mars mission, he assures that their story is original. Balki added that only the core of ISRO's historic mission has been taken, with all characters and their back stories being fictional. He even invited the complainant, Radha Bharadwaj to come read their script and question how can she jump to conclusions without even going through it first.

She captioned it as, ''Kritika Agarwal , Navigation and Communication Department, reporting on duty. #MissionMangal #FirstDay #FireTheEngines.'' The film which features an ensemble cast such as Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Vidya Balan and Nithya Menen other than Akshay and Taapsee, is all set to release next year on August 15, 2019.
