'Mission Mangal' Team With Arnab Goswami: Watch As Akshay Kumar Demonstrates How 'Mangalyaan' Exists In Every House

In an exclusive interaction with Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, the team revealed how the mission was a big achievement and pride for the country.

Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menon -- an ensemble cast so huge, 'Mission Mangal' is being touted as India's first space film and in an exclusive interaction with Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, the team revealed how the mission was a big achievement and pride for the country.

When asked how Akshay was able to cover such a huge mission in a 2-hour film? The actor said: "I would firstly like to tell everyone that Mangalyaan was a big achievement for India. It is nation's pride. Mangalyaan is in every house of this country and I will tell you how and I am sure no one has noticed it..." 

He then shows Rs. 2000 note where the picture of Mangalyaan is printed on it.

Akshay further reveals, "And Mission Mangal is the story about the same. When Jagan Shakti, my director came up with this script to me... I was surprised that ISRO could send a satellite in just Rs. 440 crores to Mars. Whereas NASA has spent Rs. 6000 crores and have attempted multiple times... India did it in the first attempt and with 100% accuracy where the gravity of Mars catching our satellite on the spot. We have to appreciate ISRO's hard-work, their calculations and the 17,000 scientists who worked behind this."

Vidya adds to this conversation and says, "Hindustani Jugaadu hote hain, and I say this with the utmost respect. We are solution-oriented and that's what has worked for this mission to be a success."

ABOUT THE FILM

In "Mission Mangal", Akshay plays the role of a scientist, who along with fellow colleagues spearheads India's mission to send a spacecraft to orbit Mars. The film, directed by Jagan Shakti, is based on real-life scientists, who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition, Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), launched by ISRO in 2013. The trailer of the movie has generated a lot of traction on social media. Other than Akshay Kumar, there are five more leading female actresses are in the film. The movie also stars veteran actor Dalip Tahil, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Sharat Saxena.

"Mission Mangal", produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studio, is scheduled to be released on August 15.
