There might have been a row over his Canadian citizenship, but Akshay Kumar and his penchant for films with either patriotic themes or social causes continue. After ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Pad Man’, ‘Gold’, ‘Kesari, and even ‘2.0’, where he again conveyed a message even as an antagonist, his latest ‘Mission Mangal’ is in the same category. The teaser of the film has been released and apart from the recreation of the Mars Orbiter Mission, the movie’s star cast also stands out.

The teaser showcases a bespectacled Akshay Kumar aka Rakesh Dhawan as the head of the mission, announcing  ‘initiating command for launch,’ and ‘we are good to go’ in the space station ISRO.

The snippet then introduces the various other characters, Akshay’s former co-stars, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha and Taapsee Pannu, and South actress Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari as they handle responsibilities in the space station as well at home and in their  personal lives.

It’s after a long time that Sharman Joshi is seen in mainstream film, and he’s once again the religious kind ala Raju in ‘3 Idiots.’ Veteran actor HG Dattatreya complete the impressive cast of the film.

The sequences of the space station, the launch of the satellite and the launch all look convincing and it’d be interesting to see how it will come out on the big screen.

‘Mars Orbiter Mission’, also known as the Mangalyaan mission in 2014 had made India only the fourth country in the world and the first Asian to reach Mars.

The movie introduces this as ‘an incredible true story’ and it’d be interesting if it scripts an interesting feat at the box office.
