Television personality Mouni Roy is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold’ opposite Akshay Kumar. The actress has been working as on the small screen for nearly a decade now and has emerged successful with her various roles.

There were rumours doing the round that Salman Khan had recommended Mouni Roy for her debut film. Tired of the constant rumours, the actress finally said in an interview with a news daily that Salman Khan has no role to play in her Bollywood debut. She questioned as to why is it so unbelievable that even after working as an actress for 10 years and being a Bengali, she cannot land herself a Bengali character. The actress said that these rumours were hurtful and said that if she talks about this matter, it will come out like she is using Salman’s name for publicity.

Talking about the ‘Dabangg’ star she said that she respects him and has been a fan since she was a little girl and hence did not wish to take up his name. But now for clarity sake, the ‘Naagin’ actress said that she has never received a call from Salman Khan owned production house for a role. Earlier, the producer of ‘Gold’, Ritesh Sidhwani had said in an interview that Mouni was selected after she impressed the makers in her audition. He also added that telling someone recommended her is like taking away her talent from her.

Meanwhile, Mouni Roy has bagged two other films even before the release of her first film. She has started shooting for Ayan Mukherjee's 'Brahmastra', which is the first of a two-part movie. The movie also boasts of a brilliant star cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Mouni has also been signed for 'Made In China' opposite Rajkummar Rao and Boman Irani.

In 'Gold', the actress will be seen playing Akshay Kumar's wife or as Akshay would put it - a 'husband beater'. Mouni Roy rose to fame with her work on television including popular soaps like 'Devon Ke Dev Mahadev' and 'Naagin'.
