On Thursday, actor Uday Chopra expressed through a tweet that India should legalise Marijuana and even tweeted out the reason why it will be beneficial for the country. He said that marijuana is a part of our culture and if legalised and taxed can generate a huge revenue source. He also stressed the point that legalising marijuana will remove the criminal element associated with it and most importantly he said it has a lot of medicinal benefits.
However, the actor also clarified that he personally does not make use of it.
Well, there were some hilarious tweets in reply to Uday Chopra's opinion, where some supported him and some were against him.
The Twitter handle of Mumbai Police has been of late focusing on sending out public service messages through interesting, eye-catching tweets. Since Uday Chopra's tweet was concerned with a material that is banned in India and owing to his popularity on the Internet, the police did not let go of the tweet without a reply. They wrote, "Sir,as citizen of India, you are privileged to express your view on a public platform. Be mindful,as of now, consumption, possession and transportation of marijuana, invites harsh punishment as per provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985. Spread the Word."
On the other hand, a few Twitterati felt that the Police was unnecessarily acting as a vigilante, whereas some lauded the police for their tweet.
