It’s almost a week since Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding, but ‘Nickyanka’ fans and others across the world are yet to get over the stunning visuals that were on display. The grandeur of the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, the classy decoration and the couple’s adorable moments from the ceremonies are still being talked about.
The bride’s outfit for the Christian ceremony was much in the news before the wedding and it stayed that way even after the nuptials. From veteran designer Ralph Lauren designing a celebrity bridal outfit for the first time to the 75-feet long veil, the gown had set social media abuzz.
However, her outfit for the Hindu rituals was not any less. After Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone, it was Sabyasachi Mukherjee again that Peecee got on board for the important task of designing her red lehenga.
The designer employed 110 embroiderers from Kolkata and it took 3,720 hours to come up with the hand-cut organza flowers. The lehenga was completed by French knots in silk floss and thread work.
The ‘Desi Girl’ personally requested the names of her parents, Madhu-Ashok and husband Nick to be sewn into the waistband of her skirt, which were done in Hindi.
The ‘Dostana’ star always wanted a red traditional lehenga for her wedding. She stated that it was Sabyasachi’s decision to bring in French embroidery, also adding that his jewellery and the Western-inspired veil aptly represented the amalgamation of who she is. Priyanka’s jewellery for the big day featured uncut diamonds, emeralds and Japanese cultured pearls in 22-carat gold along with a 16-carat diamond drop on her head by Chopard.
After the grand wedding on December 1 and 2, ‘Nickyanka’ hosted a reception in Delhi which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 4. A reception for Bollywood stars is also on the cards later this month.
