Raajneeti

Directed by Prakash Raj, this film was a modern take on Mahabharata. Nana Patekar portrayed the modern-day Krishna in this one. He perfectly pulled off the role and managed to win hearts. He played the character of Brij Gopal who had a natural talent of being able to manipulate people.

With this film, Nana proved to the audience that he can tackle comic roles as well as other roles. He played a don feared by everyone who secretly aspires to be an actor. Nana managed to make his fans laugh and played the role beautifully.

Ab Tak Chappan

This was based on the real-life experiences of encounter specialist cop, Daya Nayak. It was a serious hard-hitting drama and is also deemed as one of the best performances of Nana Patekar. Playing the character of Sadhu Agashe who deems killing criminals as his duty, Nana put in multiple shades of character features by coming off as a family man.

Wajood

In this one, Nana played a gifted actor who falls in love with a rich girl portrayed by Madhuri Dixit. Throughout the course, he is oblivious to the fact that his love is a one-sided story and goes to great lengths to unite with his love. When he finally realises that they cannot be together, his whole world comes crashing down.

Natasamrat

Natasamrat is the story of a man named Ganpatrao Belvalkar who has to face several hardships in his old age after retiring from his theatre career. He also becomes a victim to dishonour inflicted on him by his own children. It is a tragic story where Ganpatrao eventually succumbs to his ill-fate and destiny. Even though this was a Marathi film, it gained a lot of recognition even in Bollywood.
