While the #MeToo movement has spread like wildfire in the country, several prominent figures in the industry have been exposed by female victims who have faced the horrors of alleged sexual assault. From renowned journalists to celebrities from Hindi film industry, women are speaking up against the sexual predators and now fresh allegations of alleged sexual harassment have come up against filmmaker Nandita Das’s father, celebrated painter and Padma Bhushan recipient Jatin Das.

Jatin Das has been allegedly accused of sexual harassment by Nisha Bora who took to her Twitter handle to narrate her story:

"I met Jatin Das in the summer of 2004 at a dinner at the India International Centre, Delhi. I was 28 years old, and had been married for a little under a year. Jatin chatted with me for a bit, and asked me to assist him for a few days to organize his work material. I was delighted to say yes," reads her post on social media.

She further goes onto reveal that she started working at his home. While everything went smoothly on the first day of her job, things turned upside down for her on the next day at Jatin Das’s residence.

"I visited Jatin in his studio on the second day. He poured himself some whiskey: offered me one too, but I refused. The next thing I knew, he attempted to grab me. I wriggled out of his embrace, flustered. Then he did it again. This time, he managed a clumsy kiss on my lips. I recall the feeling of his beard on my skin. I pushed him away, and moved away from him. I picked up my bag, stepped out into the sun, and ran home. Never to speak about it. Until now," Nisha Bora revealed in her post.

Later, in her post, Nisha Bora also revealed the reason for her delay in opening up against her alleged abuser who is counted among the most creative artists of India.

"It wasn’t me, it was him. This is something it has taken me all of 14 years to realize I had been married for about a year. I worked myself into a hole believing that talking about it would make trouble for them, that I had no business disrupting their social equilibrium, that I had somehow landed myself in this spot, and that it was my problem to deal with’. I felt guilty and ashamed.

Nisha confessed that, while she got a chance to tell Jatin Das's daughter Nandita Das about what had happened, she couldn't gather the courage.
