National Film Awards 2019: Ayushmann Khurrana Reacts To His Double Delight, Says He's 'thrilled'

‘AndhaDhun’ was adjudged the Best Film, Best Hindi Film at the announcement of the National Awards held in New Delhi on Friday. The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and directed by Sriram Raghavan, is a suspense thriller that was among the most critically acclaimed films of last year. Ayushmann won the Best Actor for the movie. He shared the award with Vicky Kaushal for 'Uri: The Surgical Strike.' There was more in store for Ayushmann as  'Badhaai Ho' won The Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award.

Reacting to his big win, the actor said, "I’m thrilled that both the films that I have done -AndhaDhun&Badhaai Ho have won at the prestigious #NationalFilmAwards. It again validates that people of our country want to see cinema that entertains, that they can cherish, discuss and endorse". 

Meanwhile, Twitter has been buzzing with congratulatory messages pouring in for the actor. Bollywood celebrities in the likes of Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar too wished the Khurranna over his 'stupendous victory' at the National Awards. 


Meanwhile, the other films that are winning laurels at the event include:

'Uri: The Surgical Strike's Aditya Dhar won the Best Director Award. The Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film/Director went to Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti's Marathi film 'Naal.'Akshay Kumar's 'Padman' was adjudged the Best Film on Social Issues. 

Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration was given to Kannada film 'Ondalla Eradalla.'Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ won the Best Choreography Award and SLB won for Best Music too. Arijit Singh won the Best Male Playback Singer for 'Padmaavat' song 'Binte Dil' as well. The Best Female Playback Singer winner was Bindhumalini for Kannada movie 'Nathicharami' song 'Maayavi Manave.'

Kannada hit ‘KGF’ starring Yash was among the winners, bagging the Best Action Film award. 

‘Sudani from Nigeria’ was declared the Best Malayalam film. ‘ ‘Baaram’  won the award for the Best Tamil Film.
