Moments after the National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma expressed her disgust at Vivek Oberoi’s atrocious tweet involving a meme on Aishwarya Rai, the body has issued a notice to the actor. Terming his post as ‘offensive’, ‘unethical’ and disrespectful towards women, the NCW asked the ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ star to provide a ‘satisfactory explanation’ over the controversy.
In the notice, signed by Under Secretary Barnali Shome, the Commission termed Vivek’s post as ‘insulting’ and ‘misogynist’ for ‘drawing a sly comparison between the poll result and a woman’s personal life.' The NCW also asked the actor for a response immediately on receipt of the notice.

Moreover, Maharashtra State Women’s Commission is also considering action, as per reports.
Previously, Sonam Kapoor, Jwala Gutta, Madhur Bhandarkar, among others condemned the tweet.
