The wait for Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth’s fans over the much-anticipated ‘2.0’ is growing day by day. While the two superstars and the director Shankar have been associated for multiple years on the project, one of the latest entrants to the movie was Karan Johar, who has joined as a presenter.

In a recent interview with an entertainment website, the filmmaker revealed his reasons for his decision to come on board the science-fiction action movie. When asked about why he feels the movie will shine globally, he said that with the three names, Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Shankar coming together it would be 'stupid' of him to expect anything but success.

Rajinikanth and Shankar’s previous films have not done that well in traditionally conducive markets for Hindi films, but KJo feels with ‘2.0’ being a continuance of a known film 'Robot' or 'Enthiran' and the character Chitti being liked, it's a different matter with ‘2.0.’ He also said that with Akshay around this time, the movie has a ‘strong North-South' connect which gives it an edge over ‘Robot’ in terms of box office presence. Karan also revealed that the movie has done ‘phenomenally’ on ratings.

The ‘Bombay Velvet’ actor is confident of the movie opening huge and added that it would be the content, which includes years of hard work and big budget contributing to its 'scale and opulence'. However, he added that it all depends on how it connects with the audiences that will take it further. Calling it a  ‘fantastic celluloid experience’, KJo also stated that it was a ‘no-brainer’, ‘great opportunity’ and an ‘honour’ to collaborate with the movie.
