#MeToo: Actor Alok Nath Accused Of Alleged Rape, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha And Others React

  • And now, after the 90s producer has alleged rape on actor Alok Nath, various Bollywood celebrities have spoken up about the matter calling it 'heart wrenching' and 'terrifying'. 

Inspired from the west, the #MeToo campaign in India has sure gained heat with several women gathering the courage to point out sexual predators. The latest to open up is the producer of the popular 90s show, Vinta Nanda. In an elaborate Facebook post, she narrated the details of the horrific incident that happened with her back in the 90s. She also accounted for the details, when the lead actress of the show was misbehaved with. Although Nanda did not name the predator she did call him the 'TV actor of the decade' due to which it did not take people on social media long enough to connect the dots. Soon, Alok Nath became an instant trend, with many people calling for prosecution. In a string of tweets, various Bollywood celebrities have spoken up about the matter calling it 'heart wrenching' and 'terrifying'.

The 'Veere Di Wedding' actress took to Twitter and shared Vinita Nanda's screenshots, where the producer is accusing Alok Nath of alleged rape and brutality and tweeted "Heart-wrenching"

Taking to her social media profile Mathur tweeted " For heavens sake. To think someone as avante garde & ballsy as @vintananda went through this torture and couldn’t speak up for 19 years!!! This makes me so sad & angry.. #Sanskari my chappal!!"

Taking to Twitter, the actress said "Part 1 #Babuji. This is so terrifying. How must she have dealt with this alone in the bloody 90’s. Thank god for social media."

'Tara' is an Indian soap opera that aired on Zee TV channel, based on the trials and tribulations, the joys and sorrows of the main character, Tara. The series was known as the first ever Indian soap on contemporary urban women and was the first Hindi language drama series that ran for about 5 years.  Alok Nath and Navneet Nishan were the lead actors of the show.
