  • Alok Nath has been accused of alleged sexual harassment and rape by Television writer-producer Vinta Nanda
  • Navneet Nishan too accused him of alleged misconduct

As the #MeToo movement has officially begun in the Hindi film fraternity, famous personalities like Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, and Chetan Bhagat to name a few were accused of alleged sexual harassment by victims who are now speaking up against their exploiters. In the midst of this, Television producer Vinta Nanda accused Alok Nath of alleged rape and brutality. She also revealed that when she worked with Alok Nath on the 90s show Tara, Alok Nath was an alcoholic, he once came drunk on sets and tried to feel the lead actress Navneet Nishan in which resulted in the lead actress slapping Alok Nath and he was thrown out of the show.

Recently, supporting Vinta, Navneet gave out a statement that read,

"I support every woman and man who is standing up for herself/himself in the #MeToo movement. I empathize with Vinta for the terrible pain she has gone through; it is unimaginable. I dealt with the four-year harassment by slapping the man in question and it is done and dusted. I suffered the loss of the show and was further shamed by the man through media and I endured that. I fought my battles there and then. I am immensely glad that the power trip and sexual dominance coming from this power is being called out. It is high time"

When Alok Nath was asked about his reaction to Vinta's allegations against him, he didn't deny it neither did he accept it and he said that he made Vinta famous and that people only listen to women because they are weak. To this Vinta, in a press conference held on October 9, shared details of the incident saying she waited 19 years for this moment.

"He is obviously not powerful. You need guts to come out and say yes this happened and I am sorry for it. He's not given denials even in 2003, 04 and 2005 when I talked about it or wrote about it in the media. Published it so he's not in any position to deny it today but the fact that he's doing it I would imagine that he's afraid and he's the one to deal with his fear. I am fearless today because I let it out. For the first time in 20 years, I am being fearless like I used to feel at the time before this happened."
