#MeToo: Anirban Blah, Founder Of Talent Management Agency Steps Down Post Sexual Harassment Allegations

  • Kwan has asked Anirban Das Blah to 'step aside' from his responsibilities related to the company with 'immediate effect.'
  • Following the allegations, Deepika Padukone's NGO put out a statement that he has tendered his resignation to the Board of Trustees.

Starting off wit actor Nana Patekar, followed by Alok Nath, the #MeToo movement has caught other celebrities related to the film industry too. Directors like Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Bhushan Kumar, Sajid Khan, Luv Ranjan, musicians like Kailash Kher, Anu Malik, Raghu Dixit and even casting directors Mukesh Chhabra and Vicky Sidana were also among those accused of sexual misconduct. And now a celebrity management company's founder is the latest in the line of fire. Anirban Blah, founder of Kwan Entertainment, which manages some of the biggest names of Bollywood like Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, among others, has been accused of sexual harassment.

A tabloid had broken the story of Anirban Das Blah's behaviour where four women, aspiring and established actors, had accused him of sexual misconduct. Blah was accused of asking women to strip, trying to kiss them, inviting them to their hotel room by saying 'casting happens in bedrooms and not in public spaces', asking one of them if she's ready to be a part of an 'unnatural sex set-up' and also telling another on that she won't succeed in the industry because she had 'small breasts.'

Following the allegations, Kwan has asked Blah to 'step aside' from his responsibilities related to the company with 'immediate effect.' The company acknowledged that the past few days have been disturbing in the light of the #MeToo stories, and supporting the movement, said it had pushed everyone to introspect one's actions in order to ensure healthy and safe working environment.

Not just managing Deepika Padukone, Blah was also a Trustee of her foundation for mental health The Live Love Laugh Foundation. Following the allegations, the NGO put out a statement that Blah has tendered his resignation to the Board of Trustees, which has been accepted. The company added that it employs a  'zero tolerance policy' to any form of sexual harassment, exploitation or abuse and expressed their solidarity with the victims. The post added that it was the company's 'collective priority' to ensure safe and equitable professional and personal environments for their employees.
