Bollywood actor Chitrangada Singh is known to be very vocal about her opinions and is fiercely unapologetic. The 'Inkaar' actress recently reacted and commented on the ongoing #MeToo movement. She feels the movement is not about bashing men, and not at all a battlefield for genders. The actress says it is about making society safe for all.
She reportedly said that change begins when people talk about it, which she admitted has already started. She also claimed that there is a huge difference between Western society and ours in our thought process. She further added that watching English shows and movies doesn't make us like them which is why India cannot have the similar #MeToo movement.
If reports are to be believed, she said that Tanushree Dutta was right in saying that for a #MeToo movement to happen, society has to create that atmosphere. People need to be ready in their intent, not just the idea. The actress feels men and women need to come together to bring about change.
Apparently, the 'Desi Boyz' star emphasized the fact that it is not at all about men versus woman. It is about making society safe. It is not male bashing at all, and further added that this movement is for the men as well. She mentioned that she is in full support of the movement, and every victim should be heard without being asked why they didn't speak earlier.
A few days back, Chitrangada had shared her #MeToo story. She too faced harassment on the sets of 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz'. She even revealed that back then her co-actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui did not come out in support when the producers and the directors of the show harassed her over a particular scene. Supposedly, the actress was to do a love-making scene with the leading actor, but when she refused because she was uncomfortable, she was subjected to a lot of taunts.
Speaking of the movement, besides Chitrangada, several Bollywood A-listers have spoken out in support of all those victims of sexual misconduct. From Priyanka Chopra, Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma, to Twinkle Khanna, Sonam Kapoor, and Swara Bhasker among others are supporting all those raising their voice against this practice.
