In the wake of the #MeToo movement, several popular names have come in the forefront, who have been accused of sexual harassment. Famous celebrities including Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Varun Grover, Luv Ranjan and now Sajid Khan are some of the few names that have been shamed for sexual harassment. A journalist on Thursday accused the 'Housefull' director of misbehaving with her during an interview. This was followed by two actors- Saloni Chopra and Rachel White accusing the filmmaker of sexual harassment.
Recently, speaking to a leading publication, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza revealed that she was aware of Sajid Khan's 'ridiculous and sexist' behaviour but she had no idea that he would stoop down to this level. Although his sister Farah Khan and cousin Farhan Akhtar denied being aware of his behaviour, Dia who has earlier worked with Sajid Khan stated that she was aware of his obnoxious behaviour.
She further stated that she was deeply disturbed and that she definitely agrees to the fact that Sajid is extremely sexist and ridiculous. She said that these incidents showed how deep patriarchy ran in society and Bollywood and added that in the coming weeks many more names will tumble out. She revealed that she has never had to face such a situation and added that she has lost work in the past because she was not willing to comply with a lot of things.
With the #MeToo movement gaining momentum, various Bollywood celebrities have been named with new ones keep emerging every other day. Apart from them, renowned writer Chetan Bhagat has been accused of sexual misconduct by an anonymous victim after she shared screenshots of her chat with the author.
Further, television actor Alok Nath has been accused of rape by popular 90's show 'Tara' producer Vinta Nanda. In a detailed post on Facebook, she also mentioned that Alok Nath was an alcoholic, and accused him of allegedly being inappropriate with the lead actress of the show, Navneet Nishan.
Several Bollywood A-listers have spoken out in support of all those victims of sexual misconduct. From Priyanka Chopra, Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma, Twinkle Khanna, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Sophie Chaudhary, to Farhan Akhtar, and others are supporting all those raising their voice against this practice
