#MeToo: KWAN Issues Fresh Statement On Anirban Das Blah, Says They Have No Sympathy For Him

  • Anirban Blah, the founder of KWAN Entertainment was recently accused of sexual harassment. 
  • KWAN Entertainment recently issued a statement stating that Anirban Das Blah's exit from the company is final.

Starting off with actor Nana Patekar, followed by Alok Nath, the #MeToo movement has caught other celebrities related to the film industry too. Directors like Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Bhushan Kumar, Sajid Khan, Luv Ranjan, musicians like Kailash Kher, Anu Malik, Raghu Dixit and even casting directors Mukesh Chhabra and Vicky Sidana were also among those accused of sexual misconduct. And now a celebrity management company's founder is the latest in the line of fire. Anirban Blah, the founder of KWAN Entertainment, which manages some of the biggest names of Bollywood like Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, among others, was recently accused of sexual harassment. 

In a recent state of affairs, KWAN Entertainment issued a statement which read "We at KWAN wish to emphatically state that Anirban Das Blah's exit from the company is finally and conclusive. We have no sympathy for him. We see this as an opportunity to immunize ourselves from this kind of toxicity in the future. KWAN has never been about one individual, it has always been and will continue to be about the collective."

Here's the statement! 

Earlier following the allegations, Kwan has asked Blah to 'step aside' from his responsibilities related to the company with 'immediate effect.' The company acknowledged that the past few days have been disturbing in the light of the #MeToo stories, and supporting the movement, said it had pushed everyone to introspect one's actions in order to ensure healthy and safe working environment.

Not just managing Deepika Padukone, Blah was also a Trustee of her foundation for mental health The Live Love Laugh Foundation. Following the allegations, the NGO put out a statement that Blah has tendered his resignation to the Board of Trustees, which has been accepted. The company added that it employs a  'zero tolerance policy' to any form of sexual harassment, exploitation or abuse and expressed their solidarity with the victims. The post added that it was the company's 'collective priority' to ensure safe and equitable professional and personal environments for their employees.

As Bollywood sees a new wave of #MeToo movement gaining momentum with each passing day, celebrities are coming out in the forefront to call out their harassers on social media. Many celebrities including the likes of Tanushree Dutta and Sandhya Mridul called out their accusers and shared their story with the world as a part of this movement.
