The #MeToo movement has kicked off recently and it seems that it's here to stay for a long time as it catches many celebrities in the act. Starting off from Tanushree Dutta's allegations of sexual misconduct against Nana Patekar, and Vinta Nanda's claims of rape by Alok Nath, more celebrities have been named in the last few days. Filmmakers have been accused the most until now, with Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Sajid Khan, Luv Ranjan, being some of those who are under attack currently. And now another director-producer has also been accused. 'Sacred Games' fame Elnaaz Norouzi has made shocking allegations against 'Namaste England' director Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
In a piece written by the actress for a Mumbai-based tabloid, Elnaaz details a three-month period of sexual harassment at the hands of the filmmaker while being considered for the role of a second lead, which she claimed was refused by Jacqueline Fernandez, on the Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra-starrer. The Elnaaz revealed that right from the time she came to know of the possibility of being cast for the role, she sensed something was fishy as Shah used to say very lightly about she only needing to perform a look test and they could then sign the papers. She felt it couldn't be so easy as it seemed due to her struggle in Mumbai since her arrival.
Shah made Elnaaz do an audition with casting director Honey Trehan where she was made to enact 'natural scenes', though apparently he was not briefed about it too. When she met the director for the second time, Elnaaz claimed he came 'too close for comfort' and gave her a 'peck'. Elnaaz also said Shah refused to get back when her team would inquire about an update, but then made her do as many as six auditions, expressing dissatisfaction after each of the tests. She felt like the worst actor in the world, but she later realised that it was only a way for him to come closer to her.
In their third interaction, Elnaaz claims Shah tried to kiss her and his advances were thwarted by the former, which she tried to do in a way that was not rude as she was desperate to get the film. The actress said the 'Aankhen' director tried to 'touch her inappropriately' after another set of auditions. In the entire time of their talks over the film, he always refused to narrate her the story of the film, which he finally agreed to do when they were staying in the same hotel in Patiala.
Shah invited her to his room and when Elnaaz went, she says he touched her butt and pulled her towards himself. She 'dodged' his attempt again and went to her room. Later, Shah kept avoiding the talk of launching her in 'Namaste England' , as she signed 'Sacred Games' by then, and he felt the makers would make her do nude scenes. He said he plans to launch her in a big way. Elnaaz states that if she had slept with him, she would've surely got the part as every time they met, he'd try to kiss her and touch her inappropriately.
She claimed she was 'mentally tortured' for three months and it was only being cast for 'Sacred Games' that helped her come out of depression. Elnaaz clarified that the reason she didn't approach the police was because she felt he is a stronger figure and since she is a foreign national, there could be visa issues for her. Elnaaz concluded her post by saying that her reason to share the post was to make 'disgusting people' like Vipul Amrutlal Shah 'stop misusing their power.'
