The #MeToo movement has gained immense traction in India. It has exposed several popular faces and names in Bollywood as well. Owing to the gravity of the movement, several Bollywood celebrities have taken a stand on the matter, while expressing their opinion.
The 'Andhadhun' actress Radhika Apte while speaking to IANS, said that she hopes that the film industry would come up with an equal and genderless system to tackle any kind of harassment cases.
Recently, Anirban Blah, founder of Kwan Entertainment, which manages some of the biggest names of Bollywood like Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, among others, was accused of sexual harassment. Blah was accused of asking women to strip, trying to kiss them, inviting them to their hotel room by saying 'casting happens in bedrooms and not in public spaces', asking one of them if she's ready to be a part of an 'unnatural sex set-up' and also telling another on that she won't succeed in the industry because she had 'small breasts.' Post the allegations he was asked to step down from his post by Kwan Entertainment.
Radhika Apte has been associated with Kwan Entertainment. When she was asked if she will disassociate herself with the agency, she said that she is in complete contact with them and the people associated with Kwan have helped her and she shares a great relationship with them. She also said that they are taking all necessary action as they all support the #MeToo movement.
As a part of the film industry, she said that they are trying to come together and find a way of constructively making a system where they all have a safe environment. The actress further said that she is a part of that and she hopes that they all come up with a constructive system which is equal and genderless for every human being.
On the work front, Apte was last seen in the hit film 'Andhadhun' directed by Sriram Raghavan. She was cast alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu in the film. This year the actress was also a part of popular Indian origin Netflix shows and a film. She was an integral part of the series 'Sacred Games' and 'Ghoul' and was also seen in the film 'Lust Stories'.
