#MeToo: Raj Thackeray Calls Nana Patekar "indecent", But Supports Him Over Sexual Harassment Allegations Nonetheless

Tanushree Dutta left the Nation in a state of aghast when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of alleged misconduct on the sets of the 2008 film 'Horn OK Pleasss'. This disclosure led to the ongoing Me Too movement. While a lot of Bollywood celebrities have come out in the open to support Tanushreee Dutta, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has come out in support of the veteran actor.

He admitted to the fact that Nana Patekar is indecent but however, he supported the actor and said he can never harass anyone. 

Speaking at an event in Amravati, the MNS chief said, "I know Nana Patekar; he is indecent. He does crazy things but I don't think he can do such a thing. Court will look into it. What is the media to do with it? #MeToo is a serious matter, the debate over it on Twitter isn't right."

Earlier a video from back in 2008 had gone viral where it was clearly seen that Tanushree Dutta got mobbed by goons as she was sitting in her car.  The actress has even gone on record to claim that the goons belonged to Raj Thackeray's party and were his workers. She had even revealed that post her accusations, Raj Thackeray's MNS party had threatened her. 

Post this, in the turn of events, a defamation case had been filed against the Bollywood actress for her comments about Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, on Thursday, October 4. The case was filed by the Kaij police in Maharashtra's Beed district on Wednesday, October 3, after MNS district unit president Sumant Dhas had lodged a complaint alleging that Tanushree had defamed his party chief.

Several celebrities have come out in support of the actress including Sonam Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Twinkle Khanna, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, Renuka Shahane, Anurag Kashyap, Kajol, Kangana Ranaut, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan, and Raveena Tandon among various others. While a few of them have maintained consistent silence on the issue including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Kalki Koechlin and Shakti Kapoor to name a few.
