#MeToo: Suhel Seth Sacked By Tata Group After Six Women Accused Him Of Sexual Harassment

Suhel Seth, who has majorly been silent on the #MeToo allegations against him, has been sacked from his position as a brand consultant of Tata Sons.

After #MeToo allegations by multiple women surfaced against Suhel Seth, Tata Sons, the holding company of Tata Group, has swung into action against the adman, socialite, author and actor. Seth has been removed from his position as a brand consultant for the company, which has terminated his contract. The decision was taken on the basis of the examination of the collaboration in the wake of the #MeToo allegations against him. Seth reportedly had played a major role in reestablishing the well-known's brand’s image after the controversy over the removal of Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of the group in 2016.

As many as six women have accused the ‘Calendar Girls’ actor of sexual harassment.  Actor-model Diandra Soares, filmmaker Natashja Rathore, writer Ira Trivedi, journalist Mandakini Gahlot, two more women, Ishita Yadav and Jasmine Divekar, have come out against him as the #MeToo movement gathered steam in the past few days. 

Diandra had accused Seth of touching her inappropriately and kissing her without her consent at a party in Delhi a few years ago. Rathore had said he had put his hands inside her kurta and forcibly kissed her. Gahlot also said the ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ actor had ‘forced’ a kiss on her lips. Trivedi claimed he had commented on her breasts, how she should not be wearing a bra, and her ‘sexy yoga poses.’ Divekar had stated he groped her breast, while Yadav said he constantly messaged to meet her at his house, something she refused as he asked her to brush, bathe and not bring her car.

The #MeToo movement had kicked off in India after Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of alleged sexual harassment on the sets of the film ‘Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss’ in 2008. Since then, apart from actors, filmmakers and casting directors, even celebrities in the field of media, and other industries have faced consequences for their alleged actions. Like Seth, others accused of sexual harassment like Sajid Khan, Subhash Kapoor, MJ Akbar, Anirban Das Blah, Vicky Sidana, among others have also lost their positions they were holding or associations they were involved with.
