#MeToo: Yash Raj Films Terminates Business Head Ashish Patil Post Sexual Harassment Allegations

  • Responding to it, YRF on October 16 has terminated his services with immediate effect.

The Me Too movement in India has brought about a revolution and especially in the Hindi film industry. The movement has surfaced prominent names like Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, Subhash Ghai, and Mukesh Chabbra among others coming to the light for allegedly sexually harassing women. On Monday, Y-Films Business Head, Ashish Patil, was accused of harassing a woman, who shared her story anonymously on a TV channel.

Responding to it, YRF on October 16 has terminated his services with immediate effect. Their statement read,

"Yash Raj Films terminates the services of Ashish Patil: Vice President- Brand Partnerships and Talent management and Business and Creative Head- Y Films, with immediate effect." On Monday, YRF had released a statement saying that in the wake of the allegations, Patil was sent on an administrative leave and finally it seems like a strict action has been taken against him.

YRF's statement on October 15 read, "Ashish Patil has been asked to proceed on administrative leave till YRF thoroughly investigates the allegations levelled on him. YRF has earnestly requested the survivor to kindly step forward and share her account of the incidents to the Presiding Officer of our Internal Complaints Committee who would maintain utmost confidentiality. We seek her kind cooperation in the investigation so that we can appropriately address this issue. We are more than willing to extend our full support and cooperation to address this serious allegation. YRF has zero tolerance towards any form of sexual exploitation or harassment of women and we shall take the strictest necessary action against the alleged perpetrator if the allegations of sexual harassment are found to be true.”

A lot of Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna, Akshay Kumar, Anurag Kashyap, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Malaika Arora, and Kangana Ranaut have backed the Me Too movement and have spoken in favour of the victims.
