On 'World Polio Day', Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan admired the 'undying and exemplary dedication' of the workers who have travelled across the world to administer anti-polio doses to the children. The actor who has served as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for polio eradication campaign in India took to his blog to laud the hard work.
He wrote“The campaign for Polio as Ambassador for it appointed by the UN was the undying and exemplary dedication of those workers that travelled from city to city, village to village, into the interiors of the country giving those vital doses to the children to prevent the occurrence dreaded polio,”
He further added that “When the agencies and the institutions gather to commemorate the eradication of polio from India, it is we or I… it is that the worker that needs to be applauded and celebrated. He or she worked the hardest in most trying circumstances.”
The 76-year-old who has been the face and voice for the campaign concluded by saying “They were the doers. And they made this campaign a brilliant success.”
Currently, the actor is hosting the reality game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. In a special episode titled, 'KBC Karmveer', Ajeet Singh was invited. Singh works towards forced prostitution and the protection of young girls being kidnapped and forced into this dastardly crime. In his blog, Bachchan mentioned that a contribution is being sent to Singh to help in his most "valiant endeavour".
Amitabh Bachchan who is basking in the success of his most recent release '102 Not out' starring veteran actor Rishi Kapoor and Jimit Trivedi has quite a lot of projects in the pipeline. The 'Don' actor is also working on Ayn Mukerji's supernatural thriller 'Brahmastra' starring Akkineni Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy. Besides this, Bachchan is also working on Sujoy Ghosh's 'Badla' starring Taapsee Pannu.
