Operation 'Free Salman Khan' Begins As Actor's Lawyers Seek Suspension Of Sentence; 5-star Food Allegedly Given

Just one night into his 5-year jail sentence after being convicted in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case, rules have already been flouted and plans are already afoot to free Salman Khan.

Far from the Channa Daal and Cabbage that was on the menu at Jodhpur Central Jail where Salman was on Thursday lodged as Kaidi No. 106, 5-star food was allegedly delivered for the Bollywood star. He was also allowed to wear his own clothes instead of the standard issue in jail.

Simultaneously, Salman Khan's lawyers have moved the sessions court seeking suspension of his 5-year sentence. His legal team has filed a 54-page appeal against the sentence granted by the chief judicial magistrate at the Jodhpur court.

Speaking to Republic TV, Salman Khan's lawyer confirmed that the plea challenging the sentence was kept ready beforehand itself in case of any 'adversity'.

The plea, as well as Salman Khan's bail application, will be heard on Friday at about 10:30 am

Republic TV has also learnt that Salman Khan's brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, as well as filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala are making their way to Jodhpur.

Salman Khan was on Thursday convicted and sentenced in the 1998 case while his co-accused, including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam, were acquitted having been given the benefit of doubt. The incident had occurred during filming for the film Hum Saath Saath Hain when the actors had allegedly gone on a midnight hunt.

The final arguments in the case were completed in the Jodhpur court on March 28 after which the judgment was reserved till April 5.

All the accused actors were present in the court for the pronouncement of the verdict after arriving in Jodhpur on Wednesday. There were massive security arrangements at the court for a number of reasons, including a known gangster's threat to shoot Salman Khan.
