Pankaj Tripathi To Play Janhvi Kapoor's Father In Gunjan Saxena Biopic, Actor Confirms

After Neha Dhupia's husband Angad Bedi was roped in to play Janhvi Kapoor's brother in Gunjan Saxena's biopic, Pankaj Tripathi has come on board as well. He will play Janhvi Kapoor's father in the film.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who is currently enjoying all the positive reviews for his film 'Luka Chuppi', will now be seen playing Janhvi Kapoor’s father in the Gunjan Saxena biopic. Mirzapur'actor has already started shooting in Lucknow. He will essay the role of Gunjan’s father Anuj Saxena.

Pankaj confirmed about the same to the media and said: “I liked the character of playing father to Janhvi Kapoor in the film. A great bonding has developed between us while working on the sets. I am having a lot of fun while shooting for the film. Janhvi is a very sincere and well behaved actress. She respects me a lot and I too respect her for the sincerity and commitment towards her work. Sharan is a very talented director and is well versed with his craft. It’s an opportunity working under Dharma Productions. They leave no stones unturned to get the right things on board.”

The film is being directed by Sharan Sharma and is based on the life of first female Indian Air Force combat pilot and first female Shaurya Chakra recipient Gunjan Saxena, who played a significant role in picking the injured soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.

Tripathi in one of the interviews spoke about his work and said that failures don’t bother him much and neither does he let success get to his head. One major change that Tripathi feels has come in his life is that he is economically stable now.

Meanwhile, Angad Bedi will play Janhvi's brother in the film and child actor Riva Arora, who played late actor Sridevi’s daughter in 'Mom, will be seen playing the young Gunjan in the film.

On the professional front, Pankaj will be seen inthe second season of Sacred Games, along with Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He will also appear in the second season of 'Mirzapur' as Kaleen Bhaiya. With respect to films, he will be seen in Shakeela’s biopic which stars Richa Chadha, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’, Dharma Production’s ‘Drive’, Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Abhi To Party Shuru Hui Hai’, ''83’ in which he will play Indian cricket team’s manager PR Man Singh, Anoop Singh’s (take on ‘The Song of Scorpions’) film and Satish Kaushik’s ‘Kagaz’.
