Passing the baton: Alia Bhatt bonds with new 'students' Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria on Diwali

It’s Diwali and it’s time for friends and family to come together, celebrate the occasion. But the festival also gives the opportunity to build new friendships and relationships. Karan Johar gave us a glimpse of this recently with his latest Instagram picture. The filmmaker shared a snap of Ananya Panday, Alia Bhatt and Tara Sutaria, all dressed in their traditional best and beautiful smiles to go with it.

It’s not that hard to figure out, but did you notice the common factor between the trio? The connection is obviously ‘Student of the Year.’ While Alia had shot into the limelight with the popular campus romance, the two debutantes are all set to do so too with the second installment soon. KJo captioned the photograph, “The students’ and hashtagged ‘soty’ and there couldn’t be a more apt way to describe the coming of the three actors for the first time.

Though Alia is only a few years older to them, there’s no doubt that the ‘Student of the Year 2’ actors would look up to her as an inspiration in the brilliant manner she has blended commercial success and critical acclaim since her debut six years ago. No doubt, they’d want to follow a similar path in their career.

Ananya is the daughter of actor Chunky Panday and Bhavana Panday. Tara Sutaria, however, is not new to the glamour world, having worked in many TV shows since her teenage days. They are paired opposite Tiger Shroff in the movie. This picture also makes us want to see a similar one, featuring the male leads, Tiger with the predecessors, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The union, however, won't have the same impact as the one involving the female leads, as the male trio is already established in the film industry.
