Yet another fresh pair — Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra come together for their upcoming film 'Photograph'. The story revolves around a struggling street photographer (Muslim) in Mumbai, who meets this shy and mellow Gujarati girl. Siddiqui's character is constantly pressured by his grandmother to get married and to save himself from that situation, he convinces Malhotra to pose as his fiancée.
What happens next is nothing but a beautiful and unusual love story. Will they get married? Or will they part ways?
One major drawback of the trailer that many observed was the pace. Even though it seems slow, the refreshing story and natural acting by the cast will make you forget that in the end!
'Photograph' was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was also part of the Berlin International Film Festival. Ritesh Batra during an interview said that the movie is really about the corners of the heart that only others can help to find, and Nawaz-Sanya did a wonderful job of revealing and keeping things from everyone. Another aspect to note from the trailer is the raw, rustic Mumbai vibe. Right from the first scene at Gateway of India to the last scene of Nawaz's banter with local taxi driver — each frame looks real. Overall, the trailer touches the right chord of your heart.
In an interview Sanya revealed that she was lucky to have gotten a chance to work with an actor like Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Not only him but Ritesh Batra, the director too. The script just touched her heart and when she got to know Nawaz was a part of it, she got even more excited because working with him was a dream come true.
The film also stars Vijay Raaz and Jim Sarbh. The film's trailer was launched on Amazon Studios' YouTube channel and will hit the silver screen on 15 March, 2019.
On the professional front, 'Dangal' girl Sanya Malhotra was last seen in the blockbuster hit 'Badhaai Ho' starring Ayushmann Khurrana that released last year. And currently, she has teamed up with Aditya Roy Kapur for Anurag Basu's next. Sounds interesting, isn't it? Meanwhile, Nawazzudin's stellar act in Thackeray was appreciated by all and will now be seen in 'Ghoomketu', directed by Pushpendra Misra and 'Bole Chudiyan', directed by his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui.
