PM Modi Gets Nostalgic After Shankar Mahadevan's 'Breathless' Tribute On Independence Day

  • As India celebrated 72 years of Independence, Shankar Mahadevan released a recreated version of his hit song 'Breathless'.
  • The music video dedicated to the country's progress was lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

20 years ago singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan surprised everyone with his composition 'Breathless' (1998). And now he has once again refreshed memories of the song with his latest composition 'Non-Stop India'. On India's 72nd Independence Day, Shankar Mahadevan released his latest composition which is a celebration of India's progress. The one and a half minute video which is a recreation of Mahadevan's famous song 'Breathless' left none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi nostalgic. The Prime Minister was all praises for the singer's effort and said that it brought back memories of 'Breathless' for him. Sharing the song on his Twitter account, PM Modi wrote, "Lovely composition @Shankar_Live ! For many, it brings back memories of ‘Breathless.’ Like your song, 125 crore Indians are working nonstop for India’s progress!"

In response to which, Shankar Mahadevan, expressing his gratitude, the singer tweeted, "Respected sir , thank you so much for your kind words ! Always inspired by you and your hard work ! This is my small contribution to a larger cause!"

Paying a tribute to the nation on its 72nd Independence Day, Shankar Mahadevan tweeted the song on Wednesday and tagged Prime Minister Modi saying, "Hon’ble PM". Shankar Mahadevan in his tweet wrote, "Non stop India! A tribute to our vibrant nation and the new heights of development we are scaling. Jai Hind! #IndependenceDay2018 Hon’ble PM @narendramodi."

The one and half minute music video highlights the achievements of the present government praising their schemes like the 'Jan Dhan Yojana', 'Swatch Bharat Abhiyan', 'Make In India' campaign, 'Start-Up India', and 'Mudra Yojana'. Several political dignitaries shared the song on their official Twitter handles praising 'Non-Stop India'. 

Akshay Kumar too tweeted the song calling it a befitting tribute on Independence Day. Akshay in his tweet wrote, "That's a befitting tribute for #IndependenceDay're also unstoppable like Non stop India!"

In response, Shankar Mahadevan thanked Akshay and gave a shoutout to the actor's film 'Gold' saying, "Thank you so much Akshay !! Really dying to see @GOLDTheMovie am sure that is going to inspire millions of fellow Indians."

Meanwhile, Shankar Mahadevan also lent his voice to another patriotic song for Doordarshan titled 'Ye Desh Meri Jaan'
