A few days ago Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan had issued a statement on the horrific Kathua rape case. Apart from being too late to comment on the issue, his reluctance to talk over the issue has drawn a lot of ire from common citizens and celebrities alike. Now, actor-turned-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt has come forward and criticised Amitabh Bachchan for his remark on Kathua. Taking to Twitter, she reminded him of his movie 'Pink', where Amitabh Bachchan had essayed the role of a lawyer who goes from pillar to post to get justice for three women, who were molested by men.

Taking to Twitter she wrote, “I can’t help being reminded of a film called #Pink. Can our images on screen please be reflected in reality?"

In her tweet, she quoted a news report which featured Amitabh Bachchan's comment over the Kathua rape incident.

Speaking at an event to promote his upcoming film ‘102 Not Out’, Amitabh Bachchan, who is also the face of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign said that he feels ‘disgusted’ to even talk about the Kathua rape incident.

"Mujhe uss vishay par charcha karne mein ghin aati hai. So uss vishay ko uchhalo mat. It's terrible to even talk about it (I feel disgusted even talking about it. So, don't rake up this issue. It is terrible to even talk about it)," Bachchan had told reporters at the event.

An eight-year-old girl from Kathua district of Jammu-Kashmir was sedated, repeatedly raped for eight days before being strangled and bludgeoned to death. The horrific incident had caused massive protests with people demanding for the death penalty for child rapists. Following the uproar, the Indian Cabinet had approved the ordinance for bringing death to those convicted of raping children up to 12 years of age. The ordinance has also been signed by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

The whole of Bollywood had turned up to support the Kathua rape victim and demanded justice for her. They ran a campaign holding similar placards which demanded justice for the young girl. However, Bollywood received backlash for being selective about their will to fight for social causes.
