Priyanka Chopra Extends Support To Harvey Weinstein's Ex-Wife Georgina Chapman

Global icon Priyanka Chopra has voiced her opinion in support of her longtime friend and designer Georgina Chapman, who recently divorced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual harassment by several women. As per media reports, the 'Quantico' queen who is all set to tie the knot with beau American vocalist Nick Jonas, wore a Marchesa design gown in her bridal shower to extend her support to Chapman. While having a media interaction post the event, Priyanka reportedly said that wearing one of Chapman's gowns is a matter of "women supporting women,".

"Georgina's a friend of mine, and she has been. And it's not her fault. And I don't think it's right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did," ANI quoted the 'Fashion' actress as saying.

"That's the wrong attitude. I've known her for years, and that was a beautiful gown and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice," she added.

The #MeToo movement started in the West last year dragged in filmmaker Harvey Weinstein's name who was accused of misconduct by several women in the industry. On May 25, 2018, Weinstein was arrested in New York, charged with rape and other offenses, however, was later released on bail.  Weinstein's then-wife Chapman's clothing brand suffered a sudden massive downfall owing to the same. The designer, in October 2017, announced that she has decided to divorce Weinstein sharing the pain of all the women who had suffered. 

However, Priyanka is not the only celebrity who has voiced her support and defended Chapman over this issue. Post the controversy, 'Avengers: Infinity War' actress Scarlett Johansson also extended her support to the designer as she wore her designed outfit to the Met Gala back in May.

Meanwhile, 'The Sky is Pink' actress, on Sunday, October 28, celebrated her bridal shower with close friends and family at Tiffany’s Blue Box Café in New York City. Reportedly the event was organized by Priyanka's bridesmaids Mubina Rattonsey and Anjula Acharia and was attended by Kelly Ripa, Lupita Nyong’o, Denise Jonas, and mom Madhu Chopra, among others. In fact, the 'Quantico' actress' soon-to-be brother-in-law Kevin Jonas and wife Danielle Jonas, were also present at the event with their daughter Alena.
