Actress Sunny Leone is expected to perform at a private event in Bengaluru on November 3, but it seems like the actor wouldn't be welcomed as she was hoping for well that's because the actor is once again facing the wrath of pro-Kannada activists.

Pro- Kannada activists headed by Harish, state secretary of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sena protested at Maurya circle in Bengaluru. The group shouted slogans against the actor and opposed her entry into the state. They also a burnt an effigy of the actor.

Harish, state secretary of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sena said, "We're saying once again we don't have anything against the organisers. We oppose Sunny Leone's upcoming flick Veeramadevi. The movie is based on the daughter of Raja Raja Chola. It hurts our sentiments. We've spoken to some grounds in Tamil Nadu and they too have opposed the movie. We will not allow it to be screened. We will protest and not allow her to enter Karnataka."

Last year as well, several pro-Kannada groups protested against the actor's new year night performance in Bengaluru. They had claimed it was against Kannada culture. The event ran into a controversy after then Karnataka Home minister Ramalinga Reddy denied permission to it as there was confusion regarding the description of the event made by the organiser.

Social activist Brinda Adige said, "This is absolute hypocrisy and duplicity. Sunny Leone is being targeted because she was a porn star. But it could very well be that the protesters, their friends or even their neighbours would have viewed her videos. They seem to be the only ones who are getting hurt by her upcoming movie. But when children get sexually assaulted or when women get raped, that time their culture doesn't get hurt. This is hypocrisy and nothing else."

This time the organisers seem to have obtained the necessary permission for the event. But groups such as these trying to impose their decisions on private events is something that activists say is disturbing. They said that the protest is a strategy to exert pressure on the organisers.
