Featuring Sonakshi Sinha, 'Total Dhamaal' makers have remixed the popular 1978 song 'Mungda' that originally featured in 'Inkaar'. Upset over the same, Rajesh Roshan in an interview to a media outlet lamented how production houses weren't required to ask the composers before they remix their songs and the composers, in turn, had no legal control over their own creations.

Rajesh Roshan further clarified that he can't do anything except smile quietly in such cases, as earlier too his 'Yaarana' chartbuster 'Saara zamaana haseeno ka deewana' was remixed without his permission.

A few days back the Mangeshkar sisters, who had lent their voices to the original 'Mungda' slammed the song for similar reasons, to which the 'Total Dhamaal' team said that Rajesh Roshan had given his blessings for the remix. It was to this proclamation that the music composer reportedly said that he was helpless and couldn't have done anything different when they reached out to him for his 'blessings'. He said that these people have worked with him in the past and the proper thing to do would have been to first ask for his consent before remixing Mundga.

"The law is against us music composers. We have no legal control over our compositions. Music companies are selling our songs to producers at throwaway prices. We are helpless," he said in an interview.

Roshan added that evergreen songs are not made overnight, rather, they're cultivated and nurtured and born out of creative conflicts. According to Roshan, the makers can't pluck a song out of its context and use it anyhow. Roshan also asked how he could possibly be happy when his songs were 'converted into a circus?'

Commenting on the scenario today, Roshan says that nowadays producers bring in four to five composers, one for each track and therefore the homogeneity is lost in the process. He recounted the days when the great composer Madan Mohan had suddenly passed away, and producer-director H.S. Rawail had approached him to complete three of the pending songs in the Rishi Kapoor-Ranjeeta starter 'Laila Majnu'. What did Rajesh Roshan do? He refused by saying that he wasn't worthy of sharing a soundtrack with a genius like Madan Mohan saab.

A few days back, Indra Kumar had defended on the same issue when Mangeshkar sisters got upset over the remixed version of the song. Inder Kumar gave an example of his own song ‘Need Churayi Meri’ from ‘Ishq’ being recreated by Rohit Shetty for ‘Golmaal Again.’ The director said there was no need to take consent as ‘Golmaal Again’ team didn’t approach him for the song, and added that the music label holds the right to use it in the way they seem fit.

Total Dhamaal is set to release on February 22 and stars Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Johnny Lever and Javed in pivotal roles.
