Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's '2.0' gets nominated for a major international award for sound design, take a look

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0' brought forth cinematic revolution as it released on November 29, 2018. Now, thanks to the awe-inspiring efforts of the makers, the film has been chosen for a major international accolade.

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0' brought forth cinematic revolution as it released on November 29, 2018. Being the first Indian film to be shot in 3D camera, the Shankar directorial also introducer 4D SRL sound, making it an innovative film on all frontiers. Now, thanks to the awe-inspiring efforts of the makers, the film has been chosen for a major international accolade.

'2.0' has been nominated in the prestigious Golden Reel Award for the meticulous sound editing in the Foreign Feature Film category. The Golden Reel Award is one of the most highly sought after accolade in the field of sound editing and design. An ecstatic Resul Pookutty, who was the sound designer, editor and mixer for the magnum opus shared the wonderful news on social media, "Absolutely delighted to announce  #2Point0  is nominated for the highest recognition in Sound Design, Golden Reel Award at @mpseorg in the USA, I ’m elated... Indian Cinema marches forward... thank you so much #TeamCanaries @shankarshanmugh @arrahman @rajinikanth".

The famous sound designer also disclosed that this nomination holds special significance as it one of the highest accolades for him and his team who innovated sound through '2.0' and in turn are also making Indian cinema proud. This is of course not the first time for Resul to receive top honours. He has been conferred with an Academy Award, a BAFTA and a Padma Shri from the government of India.

Meanwhile, the film's Hindi version made a collection of Rs 139.75 crore and Rs 38.00 crore in its first week and the second week respectively. The Hindi dubbed version has also surpassed the box office figures of Salman Khan's 'Race 3'. The Rajinikanth starrer is the second highest grossing Hindi dubbed film of all time, right behind SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'.
