Rajkummar Rao steps in Dharmendra's shoes for 'Chupke Chupke' remake

With intriguing storylines in films and spectacular performances, Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has emerged as one of the promising actors in the industry. The actor, who recently won the hearts of the audience with his power-packed performance in Judgementall Hai Kya, is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming comedy-drama Made in China. Recently, reports of his next film surfaced on the Internet, which state that the actor will be starring in the remake of Dharmendra's hit venture Chupke Chupke

While rumours of Rajkummar Rao stepping in Dharmendra's shoes has been going on rounds for quite a while now, the actor during a recent interview confirmed the remake of the 1975 cult classic. Talking about the same, Rajkummar Rao reportedly said that this will be a 'big responsibility' for him. He revealed that the scripting of the film is currently underway and the rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. Moreover, Rajkummar Rao also hailed Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the director of the original Chupke Chupke, and said that although they can't match his standard of work, they will try to put their best foot forward.

Chupke Chupke

The 1975 comedy-drama Chupke Chupke which also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bachchan in key roles alongside Dharmendra was a massive success and still counts in the 'must-watch' list of the movie buffs. As per media reports, Rajkummar Rao, who is also a huge fan of the film, loved the idea of a remake and has agreed to come on board. Similar to the previous venture, Rajkummar Rao will have a double role in the film. Media reports suggest producer Bhushan Kumar and Luv Ranjan have collaborated for the remake. However, not much about the upcoming venture has been revealed yet.

On the professional front

The actor is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming comedy-drama Made In China co-starring Mouni Roy. The film has been helmed by National Award-winner Mikhil Musale, who won the best director for his 2016 drama-thriller Wrong Side Raju. Dinesh Vijan of Hindi Medium fame is producing the flick. Made in China, originally set to hit the big screens on August 15, will now be releasing on Diwali this year. Meanwhile, besides this, Rajkummar Rao will also be starring in Hansal Mehta's Turram Khan and horror-comedy Rooh Afza opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
