Ranbir Kapoor reveals that he enjoyed doing action scenes in Shamshera

Ranbir Kapoor expresses his feelings of working in Shamshera as a dacoit, making it his first tryst in the action genre in his 12-year career so far.

The much anticipated Yash Raj Films production Shamshera is due to release on July 31 next year. In the film's teaser, its leading man, Ranbir Kapoor can be seen saying a quirky dialogue which roughly translates to “Dacoit from Karam, Free from Dharam”.

In a recent interview with a leading publication, Ranbir spoke about his preparation for playing the titular role of Shamshera in the movie.

Ranbir Kapoor's first tryst with action in Bollywood

The actor revealed that the shooting of Shamshera and Ayan Mukherji's Brahmastra took place simultaneously. This added to the challenge of playing the character for him as both the films have a heavy dose of action. Ranbir added that he is not used to doing action movies, having the experience of playing serious roles in the past. However, he is excited for both the films and says that he has enjoyed himself shooting for both of them.

For him, Shamshera is a dream-come-true project since he has grown up watching commercial Hindi films which are entertaining. It will be set in the 1800s where a ‘dacoit’ tribe fights for their rights from the British conquerors. In the movie, Ranbir will play the role of a dacoit leader and fights the antagonist of the film, played by Sanjay Dutt. Speculations are rife that Ranbir will be seen in a double role.

Fans are also eager to see him in Brahmastra, which is set to be a mythological action-adventure film. The movie features Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in prominent roles as well and is being directed by Ayan Mukerji.

Along with both these films, the talented actor is also going to be seen in a biopic on the legendary singer, Kishore Kumar which is still untitled. Ranbir to likely to team up with director Anurag Basu for the third time, having worked with him previously in Barfi and Jagga Jasoos.
