Rani Mukerji starrer 'Hichki' that was widely loved by the audience and received a standing ovation at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is all set to hit the box office in China. The film is slated to release on October 12, 2018, titled as 'Teacher with Hiccup'.  The news was confirmed by T rade Analyst Taran Adarsh who took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter and said "#Hichki to release in China on 12 Oct 2018... Here's the poster for the local audiences in China." Produced by Yash Raj Film and helmed by Siddharth Malhotra, the story is a social drama based on equality that has won many hearts all across the country.

Reportedly, commenting about the release of the film in China, the actress stated that she hopes that the film will resonate with the audience there especially teachers students and parents. Rani Mukerji is playing the role of a school teacher named Naina Mathur who is dealing with an involuntary nervous system disorder called Tourette Syndrome in the film.

During an exclusive interview to Republic TV, when asked why she chose ‘Hichki’ as her comeback film, Rani had said, "For me ‘Hichki’ is a film that goes beyond just being a film because in an actor’s life, we rarely get such films where we are able to do something much more than entertainment. She went on to say that, "For me ‘Hichki’ is a film which is all about positivity, it is all about a positive message which is going out through the film. It’s an inspirational film and it has all the qualities that I look for when I watch a film. With entertainment, I am taking back something that is inspiring to me. As human beings, we are all special in our own ways and I think that is what ‘Hichki’ celebrates"

China has opened up to Indian movies significantly over the past years. Films that have aired in the country include 'Three Idiots', 'Dangal', 'PK' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'.
