'Rannbhoomi' Postponed, Varun Dhawan To Now Star In Shashank Khaitan's Yet Untitled Spy Thriller

Shashank Khaitan directorial 'Rannbhoomi' gets postponed. The actor-director duo have decided to make a spy thriller before 'Rannbhoomi'

The actor-director-producer  trio of 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' and 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'- Varun Dhawan-Shashank Khaitan-Karan Johar had earlier announced that they will be getting together for the period film 'Rannbhoomi'. In both the films, the audience got top see the innocent romantic side of the actor. The news had created excitement among the fans and the actor's fan began anticipating the release of the film, to  see Varun in a period film.

 However, as per reports, the film 'Rannbhoomi' is postponed, but, Shashank Khaitan has a new spy thriller in mind for the actor. Reportedly, Shahsank has been designing an espionage thriller and he has bounced off the idea to both Karan Johar (the producer)  and Varun Dhawan, who will star in it. Reportedly, the director also confirmed the news that he will be making the film with the 'Badlapur' actor in the lead. However, the film is still in the pre-production stage and is likely to go on floors in 2019. The director reporteldy siad that both he and Varun have never tried something like this. 

The film is expected to be a spy thriller in which Varun Dhawan will be playing a spy agent. The source informed the daily that for the film, they are getting Hollywood stunt experts. On keeping Rannbhoomi on hold, the director had reportedly said that since it is a period film, it will require a lot of research and so had to postpone it.  The movie was initially supposed to release on Diwali 2020.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan was last seen in Sharat Katariya's 'Sui Dhaaga' opposite Anushka Sharma. The film released on Septmebr 28 and has received positive reviews from audience and critics alike. He is also shooting for Abhishek Varman's 'Kalank' , which is produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma productions . The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles.
