Ranveer Singh Wants To Be Karan Johar’s ‘Rasmalai’. Here's Why

During Twinkle Khanna’s book launch event recently, Ranveer Singh poked fun at Johar with regard to the abolishment of Section 377.

A feeling of euphoria gripped the nation as the Supreme Court, on September 6, abolished Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code thereby decriminalising consensual adult gay sex. As the rainbow flag fluttered with pride, Bollywood stars too joined in the jubilant celebrations. A number of celebrities took to social media to laud the court’s verdict to diminish the archaic law. Among others, filmmaker Karan Johar took to Twitter express his joy. He said, “Historical judgment!!!! So proud today! Decriminalising homosexuality and abolishing #Section377 is a huge thumbs up for humanity and equal rights! The country gets its oxygen back! 👍👍👍💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏''. And recently, during Twinkle Khanna’s book launch, Ranveer Singh poked fun at Johar with regard to the abolishment of Section 377.

The launch event of Twinkle Khanna’s novel ‘Pyjamas are Forgiving’ was a star-studded affair with Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Bobby Deol, and Dimple Kapadia in attendance. During the event, Ranveer, who was asked to talk about the book, took the opportunity to laud the Supreme Court’s verdict. The actor said,

“A thundering round of applause for the verdict”, and further, pointing out to Karan Johar, Ranveer added, “You can have as much dessert as you want Mister.” In response to Ranveer’s remark, Karan said, “Why has it become about me?” and to this, the actor replied, “We are doing Takht together, and I’ll be your Ras Malai.”

Meanwhile, ‘Takht’, a war epic, also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Karan Johar had taken to social media to make an official announcement of the film’s star cast.

In addition to this, Ranveer Singh is currently working on Karan’s production venture ‘Simmba’ directed by Rohit Shetty.  Ranveer plays a notorious cop in the film which also stars Sara Ali Khan. ‘Simmba’ is slated to hit screens on December 28, 2018. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has recently wrapped up the shoot for 'Gully Boy' which also stars Alia Bhatt. The film is based on the story of real-life street rappers Divine and Naezy from Mumbai's Dharavi slum. During an earlier interview, Ranveer said that after his debut film 'Band Baaja Baaraat' if there is any other film that is close to his heart, it is 'Gully Boy'.
