In a recent interview with a portal, the 76-year-old opened up on her life and the inspiration behind making the viral video. Khanchandani shared that she born in Pakistan, studied in Lucknow, got married in Agra and bought a home in Mumbai. She currently resides in the same city as Ranveer.

Talking about her journey on the song, she revealed that she watched ‘Gully Boy’ on the day of release, February 14 and absolutely loved it, particularly the songs. When she returned home after the show, she thought over the night if she can write and sing something on similar lines. She put pen to paper and the rest the history.

Khanchandani’s two daughters played a significant role in her exciting rise to fame. She first sent her song to her elder daughter and she played it at an event, where it was tremendously loved. Then the younger daughter encouraged her to write something with even better lyrics, and that was the birth of the song that has now gone viral.

Afterwards, they put her lyrics in the Gully Beat app, a platform specifically created at the time of the release. However, there was no update on its status until Ranveer spotted it recently and thanks to his endorsement, the video has gained over 40 lakh views.

While ‘Rap Nani’ has inspired us with her words and her achievement of being praised by Ranveer and others, her views on life are even more inspiring. She owns a salon at the age of 76 and she advises women to take up the knife or scissors, but keep themselves busy with some activity.

Khanchandani says she hasn’t even signed up for a life insurance policy as she’s convinced she won’t fall ill. She shares that she believes in the universe, as the popular book ‘The Secret’ puts it, what you think is exactly what happens.

Not ‘Apna Time Aayega’, Khanchandani proudly asserts, ‘Rap Nani ka time aa gaya.’
