Back in 2017, In an interview with a leading newspaper, Mayoori spoke about the struggles she had to face. She said: “Every time a new client sees me, they have the same question – ‘How come you are here?’ I have answered it so many times that some colleagues suggested that I record the answer. But I have to prove myself in every new meeting as people have a notion that actors are not intelligent. I have worked hard to make people take me seriously. People should complete their education before they come looking for that big break in Bollywood. Especially the actress, their career in the industry lasts only around ten years. Have a backup option.”

She also said that she did about 16 films (half of which didn't see the daylight) in Bollywood. She further reveals that the 1990s wasn't a great time for actresses because all they had to do was dance around trees because of which she took up other jobs like writing scripts and making documentaries, and eventually entered the TV industry in 2000. And later, in a few years, she got married and shifted to the US.

She is now a mother of a young boy who was born in 2011. She said her decision to move to Gurgaon was because her in-laws were based there and her son could be with them. "Managing a successful career and a child can be taxing. You need a good support system, which was missing in the US," she said.

When she was asked if she misses films, she had said that she never wanted a 'celeb-like life'. Even though the movies were incredible, but what happened in her life next was equally amazing, she had said.

She concluded by saying that she adores her job and can only be a part of films if it requires her to act on weekends.

She also said that she's close to Arshad Warsi, Mukul Dev, Gauri Pradhan and Shweta Salve from the industry.
