It’s official! Shahid Kapoor won’t be playing a South Indian character or have the same name as that of the protagonist in the remake of ‘Arjun Reddy.’ The movie has been titled ‘Kabir Singh’, and so obviously the character will be set higher up in the Northern part of the country. In the first poster which features Shahid’s name ‘in and as’ Kabir Singh, we only see a fist formed in the shape of a heart and that says it all about the plot of the film which involves both action and romance.
The poster also mentions the names of Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is the director of the original as well as the remake. The movie has been backed by T-Series and Cine 1 Studios. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Ashwin Warde have been credited as the producers. The release date, as announced before, has been confirmed as 21 June, 2019.
Shahid acknowledged the love and appreciation that ‘Arjun Reddy’ received, but it was now time for the story to come out in a different avatar. He used clever wordplay, asking fans to be ‘reddy’ for the new venture. An official page has also been launched, which was one of the multiple handles he tagged in his tweet.
Shahid Kapoor steps into Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda’s shoes for the film, while he is paired opposite Kiara Advani who will enact Shalini Pandey’s character. The lead pair had recently featured in the song ‘Urvashi', again for T-Series, which is a remake of Prabhudeva-starring track, composed by AR Rahman, of the same name. Their chemistry was appreciated in the fast-paced dance number, rendered by Yo Yo Honey Singh, and there’s no doubt they’d want to replicate it on the silver screen as well.
