A Zomato user from Jabalpur cancelled his order as the delivery executive assigned to him was a Muslim. Stating religious reasons and not being able to accept food from a Muslim man in the 'holy month' of Shravan, the Zomato user was trolled on social media for his statements.
The company later tweeted saying, 'Food doesn't have a religion. It's a religion.' The tweet was later retweeted by company's founder Deepinder Goyal who also added that he is not sorry to lose customers like Pandit Amit Shukla (Zomato user's name on Twitter).
Actress Richa Chadha also shared a screenshot of the Zomato user and took a sharp dig at him. Take a look at the tweet -
Pandit Amit Shukla, with the username @NaMo_SARKAAR, tweeted on Tuesday evening saying he has cancelled an order from Zomato after they assigned Muslim delivery executive named Faiyaz. When asked the reason by Zomato assistance, Shukla said: “We have Shravan and I don’t need a delivery from a Muslim fellow.”
The customer care executive said: “At Zomato we don’t discriminate on basis of riders, I hope you understand.”
