The much-anticipated trailer of upcoming Bollywood film 'Thackeray' released on December 26 following a launch event in Mumbai amid controversies over the Censor board objecting to certain dialogues in the film. The biopic that narrates the story of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the iconic political leader. Several celebrities across domains have expressed their views on the upcoming venture on social media and now Nawazuddin's 'Gangs of Wasseypur' co-star Richa Chadha also joined the bandwagon.

The actress took a dig on Nawaz in a recent Twitter post, as she extended a cryptic message to the actor addressing him by his screen name Faisal from 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.  Richa who played the role of Nawaz's mother in the film franchise took to Twitter and wrote, "अरे ई हमरा फैजल तो बाईपोलर निकला बे !" (Oh my Faizal turned out to be bipolar).

Here's the post:

It seems like Richa's jibe at Nawaz is because of his role in the upcoming film where he portrays to be a political leader which is very different from the role he has played earlier in Nandita Das' 'Manto'. In the previous film, which was also a biopic, he was portrayed as Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto who was known to be a progressive writer famous for his thought-provoking stories. And now, he is all set to ace up the role of Bal Thackeray, who is considered an extremist by many.

However, Richa is not the only actor, South Indian star Siddharth has also taken to social media to slam the Thackeray's biopic. In a series of tweets, the 'Rang De Basanti' actor has hit out at the film's trailer saying that it is trying to make money by promoting 'hate speech against South Indians'.

Meanwhile, the trailer features Thackeray’s rise from humble beginnings to establish a political party as he felt it was important to get involved with the people to serve the people. It has been directed by Abhijit Panse and written and produced by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Shrikant Bhasi along with Viacom Motion Pictures. The movie will hit the screens on January 25, two days after the birth anniversary of Bal Thackeray.
