Raj Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the most legendary actors that Indian cinema has ever since. His popularity is on a global scale with even China being a big market for his work. Now, his son Rishi Kapoor, who is currently in New York shared something interesting about his father.
Taking to Twitter, he revealed that his father's name featured in a famous American quiz show. Called Jeopardy is a highly watched television program where Raj Kapoor's name appeared in a question. It went something like this, "Raj Kapoor, star of 'Awaara' or 'The Tramp', was Bollywood's version of this silent comedian, also 'The Tramp'." It was clearly referring to the iconic 1951 Hindi film Awaara, where the late actor sported a look similar to that of Charlie Chaplin. Of course, the silent comedian is Chaplin himself, whose on-screen character name was 'The Tramp'.
Rishi posted a picture of the above question with the caption, "This question came on the very popular American quiz show “Jeopardy” last night. And it got answered too! I saw it but then some fan sent this to me. I thought it to be cool!"
The fans of the veteran actor were also excited about this discovery as they also shared pictures of videos of the game-show.
The legendary actor Raj Kapoor also had his 94th birth anniversary on December 14. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor remembered his uncle Raj Kapoor on the occasion. He took to Instagram and shared a heartwarming throwback video to pay tribute to the legendary actor. In the video, 'the greatest showman of Hindi cinema' can be seen speaking about his favourite film.
