Rishi Kapoor Remembers Shammi Kapoor On His Death Anniversary, Writes 'never A Star Like Him'

Rishi Kapoor took a trip down memory lane and dug out a throwback picture of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor who was also known as India's Elvis Presley by his fans. Sharing the nostalgia-inducing picture, the 'Kapoor and Sons' actor wrote, "Remembering Shammi Kapoor. Left us on August 14, 2011. Never a star like him." 

Shammi was a prominent lead actor in Hindi cinema. He made his Hindi film debut in 1953 with the film "Jeevan Jyoti". He was later seen in films like "Tumsa Nahin Dekha", "Dil Deke Dekho", "Junglee", "Kashmir Ki Kali", "Janwar", "Teesri Manzil", "An Evening in Paris", "Bramhachari" and "Sachaai".

Shammi Kapoor was the second son of actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsharni Kapoor. His brothers were late actors Raj Kapoor (father of Randhir Kapoor, Ritu Kapoor Nanda, Rishi Kapoor, Rima Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor) and Shashi Kapoor (father of Kunal, Karan and Sanjana Kapoor).

He passed away in 2011 after suffering from chronic renal failure, aged 79.

Rishi Kapoor, on the other hand, is waiting to return to his country soon, he was seen in the recently released film 'Jhootha Kahin Ka' which marked his comeback after long in Bollywood.
Smeep Kang's directorial hit the big screens on July 19. He also made his Netflix debut with the film, 'Rajma Chawal'. Set in the chaotic, vibrant area of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, Rajma Chawal captures the relationship between a father attempting to reconnect with his estranged son through social media, a new world for him. The film is an emotional roller-coaster, interspersing grief and the pressure of family expectations with humour, compassion and love. Rishi Kapoor plays the role of Raj Mathur, the father, along with Amyra Dastur, Aparshakti Khurana and Anirudh Tanwar in his debut role as Kabir Mathur, the son.
