Rohit Saraf on his next film: 'Was scared of dark comedy genre'

Rohit Saraf has essayed the role of a brother in three movies including his latest release The Sky is Pink. In the 2016 hit film, Dear Zindagi, he played the role of Alia Bhatt’s brother. Along with this, he was also seen playing the character of the cousin of the protagonist in What Will People Say. The actor has said that he finds it unfortunate that people stereotype actors as 'brothers or friends.'

In a recent interview with a news agency, Rohit Saraf opened up about the roles he has played on the silver screen so far. The actor said that the relation of a character was not of importance to him. Instead, he said that what matters to him was whether the role appeals to him or not. Saraf said that he would play the role of a helper or a clerk if the character looked promising enough to him. 

He said that the role played by him in Dear Zindagi was very little but he enjoyed it. Similarly, in The Sky is Pink the role played by him was interesting for him, Rohit Saraf added. He also mentioned that even for the next five films, if he is approached to play the brother of the protagonist, and if he finds the role appealing, he will choose to act in that movie.

What is next in store for Rohit Saraf?

Rohit Saraf also spoke about his next Bollywood movie directed by Anurag Basu. In his interview, Saraf revealed that he chose the movie because he has been scared of doing the dark comedy genre. The actor said that he has never tried this genre before. Saraf stated that he had wondered whether he would be able to do justice to the character and to the film. 

Rohit Saraf also added that Anurag Basu is not a director with scripts but a 'director with his mind.' He added that the actors just have to play along with Basu's vision. The Dear Zindagi actor added that working with Basu was making him "different aspects of filmmaking" and that he was enjoying it.
