Saif Ali Khan-Nawazuddin Siddiqui Starrer ‘Sacred Games’ Gears Up For Season 2

Netflix original series ‘Sacred Games’ that starred Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui essaying the role of ultimate gangster Ganesh Gaitonde gets a go-ahead for season two.

The second season will pick up from Sartaj pursuing his relentless battle of saving the city and Ganesh Gaitonde facing bigger challenges to retain his position as the legendary kingpin of Mumbai. The intriguing Guruji aka Pankaj Tripathi, introduced in season one as Gaitonde’s ‘third father,’ plays a pivotal role in unfolding a chain of events that shape the next season. The second installment will be shot in India and locations overseas this fall.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will continue directing Ganesh Gaitonde’s track, while Neeraj Ghaywan of Masaan fame will take over Sartaj Singh’s plot. Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover will continue their roles of being the showrunner and the lead writer respectively.

The highly-anticipated season will see a mix of old favorites and fresh new characters to drive the storyline to its intrepid twists and turns.

Speaking about season two, Erik Barmack, Vice President, International Originals at Netflix, said, “We’ve been thrilled by the response to Sacred Games from fans worldwide, and especially in India, to this high quality production. It’s incredibly exciting for us to take the story of Sacred Games forward and open a new chapter in the series with its second season.”

On Friday, Netflix India’s official Twitter Handle shared the update with an intriguing teaser.


Saif Ali Khan was last seen on the silver screen in the Akshat Verma directorial 'Kaalakaandi'. The 48-year-old actor will reportedly next be seen on the big screen in the Gauravv K. Chawla directorial titled 'Baazaar' which is slated to release on October 26, 2018. The crime drama also stars Radhika Apte, Chitrangda Singh, Denzil Smith, and Rohan Mehra.

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will next be seen in the much-awaited biographical drama titled, 'Manto'. Based the life of the famous Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto the film is directed by Nandita Das.
