When ‘Zero’ hit the theatres late last year, several reviews termed Katrina Kaif’s performance as her career-best. The actress even went on to win the Best Supporting Actress award at one of the events, something that is rare in the ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ star's journey in B-Town till now. However, there could be something even bigger than his for the 35-year-old, according to her ‘Bharat’ co-star Salman Khan, who feels she is guaranteed to win the National Award for her performance in the film. The ‘Dabangg’ star also thanked Priyanka Chopra, who was earlier set to work in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial but she opted out, for creating that opportunity for Katrina.

At the launch of ‘Bharat’ song ‘Zinda’ at an event in Mumbai on Friday, Katrina said, “I count it as one of the best characters I’ve gotten a chance to play. She is the support for Bharat’s character throughout the film, so her journey also continues with him. There is a huge amount of work which has gone into every era in the film as the years go ahead, to get the look, essence of the time right, to make the character as believable as possible. We left no stone unturned to try and do the best that we could.”

Salman then said, “In one word, she’s basically saying that she will get the National Award for this film. Seriously, without jokes, you will see it. She is so good in the film. She has worked so hard in the film that it is confirmed that if someone is going to get the National Award, it’s going to be her.”

The actress was then told of certain comment related to she replacing Priyanka in the movie. The latter had opted out last July reportedly due to Hollywood assignments, and her then rumoured wedding. Reports of Salman being angry on her had also surfaced, but he had denied it.

When she started by saying that she was ‘misquoted’, Salman quipped, ‘Liar.’

The actress then continued, “I was under the impression that they were already going to begin the shoot. As far as my knowledge is concerned, Priyanka was very much in the film. Actually, it was Ali, he called me and said that there has been a little bit of change of plans. ‘For some reasons, she’s no longer a part of the film, and I’m sending you the script. Just read it and just react to it.’

"And he put absolutely no pressure and there was no thing like, ‘You’re a friend, I’m a friend.’ I read the script and called up Ali and said, ‘This is your best work so far, your best script’ since I have read all his scripts. ‘I think it is an amazing character and I’d love to be a part of it’ and we got straight into work.”
