Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif had a festive release, hitting the box-office. The film witnessed the second highest opening Bollywood opening of 2019 and has crossed Rs 150 crores at the box office within just five days of its release. However, on its first Monday, 'Bharat' faced a massive dip and minted just Rs 9 crores at the ticketing counters.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and informing the audience about the box office collections wrote, "#Bharat eyes ₹ 175 cr+ in its *extended* Week 1... Wed 42.30 cr, Thu 31 cr, Fri 22.20 cr, Sat 26.70 cr, Sun 27.90 cr, Mon 9.20 cr. Total: ₹ 159.30 cr. India biz... The crucial World Cup cricket match [#INDvPAK #CWC19] will make a big dent in biz on coming Sun [16 June]."
Set in the backdrop of Indian Independence, the film 'Bharat' portrays the journey of a man named with the same name, played by Salman, in parallel with the journey of the country towards independence. With a tagline that reads: 'the journey of a man and a country together', the film features the actor in five different looks according to his age and profession as it follows his life from 1964 to 2010.
The film is produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar under the banner of Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd. and Salman Khan Films, presented by T-Series. It is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Katrina Kaif as the lead actress.
