Sardar Udham Singh: Vicky Kaushal visits Golden Temple ahead of shoot

Before commencing the second schedule of 'Sardar Udham Singh' in Amritsar, actor Vicky Kaushal visited the Golden Temple on Friday, to seeks blessings.

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal who won the hearts of the audience with his stunning performance in 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' has donned the cape of patriotism yet again as he is now all set to star in Shoojit Sircar's upcoming directorial 'Udham Singh'. The film is based on freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh who assassinated Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Before commencing the shoot for the second schedule of the film in Amritsar, Vicky Kaushal visited the Golden Temple to seek blessings. The actor took to Instagram on Friday, October 4 and shared a picture of himself from the location where he can be seen offering prayers with his hands folded and eyes closed. The 'Raazi' actor captioned the post saying, "Babaji, mehr bakshyo. 🙏 #SardarUdhamSingh here we go!"

Vicky Kaushal on working it Shoojit Sircar: It's surreal

Actor Vicky Kaushal who has aspired to work with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar for long is overwhelmed to have finally gotten the opportunity in 'Udham Singh'. Talking about the same, Vicky in a previous interview said, "It's a surreal feeling because it's like a dream come true as I am finally getting to work with him. I have always been a big admirer of how Shoojit sir looks at his stories. The way he is looking at the character (Udham Singh) and the world is extraordinary as well as beautiful. Honestly, that's something that will take time to sink in."

Meanwhile, talking about casting Vicky Kaushal in 'Udham Singh', the 'Piku' director said, "If you look at Vicky's track record, he is taking brave steps and making some really fabulous choices. I wanted an actor who is ready to give his heart and soul to the film. Plus, he is a Punjabi boy and my film is a story of a Punjabi man. So, in many ways, he turned out to be the obvious choice."

On the professional front

After giving a remarkable performance in 'Sanju' and 'Raazi,' Vicky Kaushal kick-started 2019 with 'high josh', as his last film 'URI' created wonders at the box office. The Aditya Dhar directorial which is based on India's surgical strike was praised widely by the audience and critics.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is all set to make his debut in the horror genre with 'Bhoot Part One - The Haunted Ship'. The Bhanu Pratap Singh's directorial venture, which was initially set to hit the screens on November 15, will now release on February 21, 2020. Vicky is also roped for Karan Johar's magnum opus 'Takht', where he will be starring alongside Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor.
